Poker University – Are They Worth It?

Learning to play poker online could take years of frustration and unnecessary loss. This is not a game that should be self-taught. Many great professional mentors will attest to this fact. Instead of trying to re-invent the wheel, therefore, it is absolutely essential to find a good mentor from which to learn all the nuances and strategies of the game.
Making the switch from playing with familiar (and readable!) faces to playing opposite a machine bent on taking your bets is not as easy as it looks. It can be quite discouraging to lose several more hands than you win. There is no way to see the faces and body language of the other players online.
A mentor and a good formal training program is essential. There are many programs available to you online, but be cautious. Most of them are not a good value for your money and could be a waste of your time as well.
You will want to maximize your winnings and minimize your losing hands as quickly as possible. Be patient. Poker is like anything else worth learning. It will take time and practice, but the more you do your homework, the more quickly you’ll catch on to the nuances of the game that will make or break you. Formal training cannot be replaced.
Take your time in choosing and completing a good training course. Choose a well-known mentor with credibility. Practice what you learn. When you think you’re ready, practice again. Your due diligence will pay off!
